A 3-year-old boy has died in a "devastating" dog attack at a home in Greater Manchester.
Police were called after reports of a young child being injured on Carr Lane, in Milnrow, around lunchtime on Sunday.
The boy was rushed to hospital via ambulance where he was sadly pronounced dead.
Officers said they were making inquires, and looking for other possible incidents involving dogs at the home. So far no arrests have been made. The area, in Rochdale, has been sealed off.
Dept Supt Jamie Daniels, of Greater Manchester Police said it was a "tragic, devastating incident" and their thoughts were with the family.
"Our enquiries to find out what happened will be thorough and are very much in their infancy," he said.
"I understand this is an extremely distressing incident for all concerned and the news will rock the local community."
He added detectives were keeping a open mind and a criminal investigation had begun.
